LGBTQ+ Health

LGBTQ+ youth deserve to access care that affirms their gender and sexuality, and promotes their mental and physical health and wellbeing. The Maine AAP is committed to supporting policies that expand access to confidential gender-affirming care, protect the rights of LGBTQ+ students, and prevent gender and sexuality based discrimination.

Sponsor: Senator David Haggan | Current Status: REFERENCE to the Committee on HEALTH COVERAGE, INSURANCE AND FINANCIAL SERVICES

This bill repeals provisions enacted by Public Law 2023, chapter 648 protecting persons who seek, health care practitioners who provide and those who assist health care practitioners in providing gender-affirming health care services and reproductive health care services in accordance with the applicable standard of care. The bill replaces the provisions addressed in chapter 648 with the law that was in effect prior to enactment of chapter 648.
